Thuya Garden, Finally

We were in Maine a good month this summer, but only managed to visit Thuya once.  Shame on us.

I like Thuya so much.  It has to be one of my favorite places.  Someday I'll get a cat, name it Thuya.

I believe she was pondering bees.

My lovely, lovely goofballs.

Scuttled Picnic II

What do you do when the boat goes kaput (again)?  Picnic on the porch (again).

(Yes, Chandler's bangs were pink, and so very cute.)

Frances, the Sailer

The old Repartee's engine was not a team player this summer.  It crumped in July and then found a whole new reason to crump in September.  I mean, being able to whine about one's sailboat implies a certain amount of privilege.  So much privilege, that one should skip the whining altogether, but still...whine, whine.

Ok, moving on.  We did get to go sailing a couple times and we got this deliciousness:

I hope she's always this happy sailing her boat!  May the wind be always at your back, kiddo.  If that gets boring, tack away!

Enough of Boston!

Let's go back to Maine!

We returned to Maine for one last romp with Mimi, Sir and other lovelies before the school year started up.  Mark was able to stay with us the whole time.  So relaxing, a real vacation.  Pictures to come.

Boston! Warmth!

It was the end of August; we deserved a little heat.  Boston owed us.

We wandered downtown for all the usual downtown pursuits, such as boosting our immune systems...

...tormenting ducks, and...

...staying up way past bedtime.

Good-bye, Copper Beech

Mostly because the directress was ready to retire, Frances's beloved preschool closed down this summer.  I really did not understand how attached I was to it until it closed.  Yes, I was planning on sending Chandler to a nature play school to roll around in the dirt for a year, but then I assumed we'd send her to Copper Beech to get  a grasp of letters and numbers.  It is not to be.

Frances was so happy there.  I met some of my closest friends there.  We miss it so.

Frances visited while school was still in session to say good-bye.  And then there was a farewell party during the summer.

They were kind of a bunch of weirdos, but, boy, did the kids thrive.
