One Year of Toddler Chandler!

One year already!  It's amazing how a 6 lb. 7 oz. babe could develop into this, given just one year.

I decided to take the girls out for lunch to mark Chandler's birthday.  We aren't sure exactly what time she was born, but we think it was around 1:30, the time this photo was taken.  So she's almost exactly one year old in this photo.

One Year Fun Facts:

  • Statistics: At her one year doctor's appointment, Chandler Baby was 29.75 inches long, the 59% (that will increase), and weighed 19 lb, 7.8 oz, the 41% (that will decrease).
  • Language: The doctor was a little concerned about her lack of language, since she doesn't seem to understand us at all (if we say, "Go get the book," she just looks at us unperturbedly and toddles off to whatever she's interested in).  I thought she'd learned the sign for "milk," but eventually had to admit she was just using it as "gimme."  She says, "iggle" all the time, but we don't know what it means.  I told the doctor we would hold off on contacting Early Intervention for the time.  I think Chandler has been too interested in getting moving to worry about language just yet.  I'm sure she'll catch up.
  • Favorite Food: Some wheat crackers from Trader Joe's, though grapes and clementines have also had popular phases.  I am grimly determined this kid is going to be a more flexible eater than her big sister, so I'm still marching her through every cuisine she can manage with no teeth, which brings us to...
  • Teeth: She's got the two bottom fronts and I can tell the two top fronts will be next.  We're hoping her teeth all see their way in before she's four.  I am quickly losing hope on that front.
  • Favorite Activity: She's a mover and a climber, this kid.  One of her latest tricks was climbing onto Frances's child-sized rocking chair, standing up, and "surfing."  Poor Frances.  Her rocking chair now lives in the basement.  Mama's nerves couldn't take it.
  • Frequent Comment: "What big, blue eyes she has!" and "She looks more and more like Frances."  Can't argue with either one of those.
  • Obsession: Pacis, pacis, and more pacis.  Oh, we have a sad day coming when that plug gets permanently yanked.
She's a keeper, no doubt about it.  I know there are easier kids in the world, but it's hard to imagine how we got so lucky with this one.
